Russian Dressing

This recipe is bold and so deeply flavorful. And so much better than the bottled variety!

We don’t eat this dressing that often, but, wow, is this version ever good. It’s nice on a green leaf salad, but it’s especially good as a dressing on a sandwich. Of course, a homemade Reuben sandwich wouldn’t be the same without this dressing. And it all comes together in a matter of minutes! We love it on burgers, including our epic Copycat Big Mac.

If you prefer little to no spice level, then pull back on the chili sauce, or omit it completely.

In order for the onion to not overpower the flavor profile, we run it along the side of our box grater. This prevents you from biting into chunks of raw onion but keeps a nuance of fresh onion flavor.

The Ingredients You Will Need

All the flavors come together to make such a unique and extremely fresh taste and texture. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Dill pickles
  • Horseradish sauce
  • Sour cream
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Chili sauce
  • Onion
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

If you prefer little to no spice at all, then you’ll want to pull back on the chili sauce, or, omit it entirely.

Now, it’s time to bring it all together! The smell of this wonderful dressing is so inviting.

All you have to do is grab a fork and mix it all together.

We like to transfer the Russian Dressing to a jar with a tight-fitting lid and keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Russian Dressing Makes a Reuben Complete

As mentioned, a Rueben sandwich just wouldn’t be complete without Russian dressing.

Making it from scratch is easy and just so delicious.

This Russian Dressing has a nice kick and an incredible flavor profile. Use in salads, egg or chicken salad, and of course...deli sandwiches, such as a Reuben. Amazing!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup chili sauce Heinz has a nice version, or find some in the Asian section of your supermarket
  • 2 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated white onion a box grater works well
  • 1 tablespoon flat-leaf parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickles minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon
  • Pinch of Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Mix everything together in medium-sized bowl.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings.
  • Serve immediately, or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
